WHO IS MARLON ERNEST?

Before I share a little about myself, I want to be sure it is clear that I will sing and preach wherever God opens a door. I am a Christian first and foremost, and I love the brethren in other Christian denominations or Christian churches that claim no denominational affiliation. I am not dogmatic about denominational differences. I am committed to the call of God, first and foremost. His power and influence cannot be boxed into denominational walls, and I am respectful of the particular beliefs that set denominations apart. I will not come into your church and disrespect your beliefs. I have a desire to see more unity in the Body of Christ, working together to be what God meant for us to be in this world, a City of Hope set on a hill shining its light for all to see!

My name is Marlon Ernest Douthit. My twin brother and I were born on September 21, 1973, to home missionaries building the Northern Lights Free Will Baptist Mission in Fairbanks, AK. My parents moved my brothers and me back to Arkansas in 1975, so I was raised in a pastor's home in Arkansas around southern and country gospel music. I started singing in church and around the piano at home with my family when I was a child. My amazing parents, Wayne and Maudie Douthit, instilled in me a great love for gospel music.

I am so thankful for my upbringing in a Christian home where music was intertwined with our daily lives. My Dad was a bi-vocational pastor all my life, so we attended a lot of singings, camp meetings and revivals that included a lot of singing and beautiful four-part harmonies. That kind of music is so powerful to me! We spent a lot of time in little churches in the backwoods of Arkansas where Free Will Baptists were also known as Whippoorwill Baptists because most of the churches were way out in the country where you heard the whippoorwills at night.

At the age of 19, I attended what is now Randall University in Moore, OK where I met my wife, Jeanne. After we were married we served seven years in full-time ministry in the roles of lead pastor, associate pastor, and evangelist. During that time, we participated in two previous studio recordings with a quartet known as "None Other Name" and as a duet known as "Common Ground". I left the full-time ministry in 2006 and over the years I have been singing and preaching where God has opened doors, on occasion. I finally finished the degree I started at Randall University through Liberty University Online in 2016.

We have three children and one grandchild; Jesse, Cassidy, Jaxon and our grandaughter, Zella Rose Crawford. They are our blessings from heaven! I am so thankful for my family and their support!

I really started feeling led to do something with my music over the past few years, and God started opening doors for me that I had not anticipated. So, I am pursuing what I believe to be God's calling on my life. I feel most alive when I am singing and preaching the Gospel, and I would love to have the opportunity to come to sing or preach the Gospel in your church or at your event!

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me! I ask that you would please pray for me as I seek to follow God's direction in ministry.
